The Science, Education, Culture and Research Center (BEKAM) continues its Focus Group Meetings series at full pace. In the session to be held on Wednesday, February 11 at 6:00 p.m., the family structure— the core of society—will be examined in a comprehensive manner.

Aiming to approach social issues from an analytical perspective and to build collective wisdom around future scenarios, BEKAM adds a new initiative to its visionary work that places society’s fundamental pillars under the spotlight. Within this framework, the Focus Group Meetings series continues without slowing down. In the session to be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., the past, present, and future of the family—the nucleus of society—will be discussed in depth. Prof. Dr. Mahsum Aytepe will deliver a presentation titled “Conceptual Origins, Sacred Bonds, Shared Roots” under the main theme “The Institution of the Family.”

ON THE THRESHOLD OF TRANSFORMATION

Other topics to be addressed at the meeting, planned to take place at the Bülbülzade Foundation, include: the traditional definition of the family in Turkish society; the family in different belief systems such as Islam, Judaism, and Christianity; and the economic, educational, and religious functions of the family today. The family is the smallest yet most resilient unit of society. Today, it stands on the threshold of a major transformation brought about by digitalization and modernization. While NGOs analyze this transformation, BEKAM, through its Focus Group Meetings, not only identifies existing problems but also addresses this transformation from a multidimensional perspective and develops solution-oriented proposals for the future.

Conducted with great rigor, the Focus Group Meetings are recorded, and the BEKAM Focus Group Meetings Report, which compiles all meeting reports, is published as a book at the end of the year.
